The 40-year-old actress/director/philanthropist was photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the cover wearing nothing but a white and black striped sweater. Her makeup is minimal and her hair is flowy.
While we’re naturally very excited to see Jolie on the cover (she hasn’t been on it in 5 years!), we’re more excited that her whole family got in on the action. That’s right, Jolie along with her husband Brad Pitt and their children: Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, Zahara, Know and Vivienne all joined in on the editorial.
It seems fitting since for the issue, Jolie got candid about the family’s life. “We travel often to Asia, Africa, Europe, where they were born. The boys know they’re from Southeast Asia, and they have their food and their music and their friends, and they have a pride particular to them. But I want them to be just as interested in the history of their sisters’ countries and Mommy’s country so we don’t start dividing. Instead of taking Z on a special trip, we all go to Africa and we have a great time,” she said.
She also touched upon her new film, By The Sea, which she wrote, directed and stared with her husband. The duo haven’t been on screen together since the making of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. “It’s not autobiographical. Brad and I have our issues, but if the characters’ were even remotely close to our problems we couldn’t have made the film.”
