‘Tis the summer of celebrity breakups. The latest couple to call it splits is seriously hard to believe.
Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt have split up after 18 years together. “With great sadness, we have decided to separate, after 18 years of love and shared history,” the couple tells PEOPLE in a joint statement. “We will continue to be supportive of each other in every way possible moving forward.” The “Mad Men” actor met Westfeldt in 1997, and though they never married, the two have been a shining example of a Hollywood couple.

There’s no official word on why the duo decided to end their relationship, but Hollywood Life claims it’s because Westfeldt wanted to start a family, and supposedly Hamm did not. “Jennifer realized that she and Jon don’t want the same things,” the source said. “So they agreed that it was time to take a step back.”
This reason makes sense. After all, back in 2012, Hamm told Playboy that he hadn’t had a strong desire to have children. “I don’t have a driving force to have a baby. That said, I’m in a committed relationship, and if it ever came up, I’m not ruling anything out.”
It’s a shame because over the past 18 years, the two have supported each other through a lot, including Hamm’s treatment for alcohol abuse earlier this year.
Back in April, the couple even denied breakup rumors, but alas, their relationship is over. Sad.
