The 2015 VMAs was definitely a show for the books. And while everyone was busy talking about the whole Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj feud, there was another very memorable moment: Justin Bieber’s emotional performance.
The 21-year-old broke down in tears after he performed his latest single “What Do You Mean?” Everyone, including host Cyrus, was stunned. But what could have caused the Biebs to get so teary eyed? Well, it was a few things he admitted to Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show.”
“It was just so overwhelming for me — everything — the performance. I missed some cues, so I was a little disappointed at that,” he said. “I just wasn’t expecting them to support me in the way they did. I think the last time I was at an award show, I was booed.”
He is of course referring to the moment he was booed at the Billboard Music Awards during his acceptance speech.
What was even more revealing is that he admitted his bad track record, of, you know, getting arrested, spitting at a photo of a former President and just being an overall a-hole, was because he was young and surrounded by bad people. “I just had a bunch of knuckleheads around me, that’s it.”
