Lauren Conrad is one of those celebrities that jut make us feel nostalgic. It’s probably because we watched every minute of her staged life unfold on television every week. That’s right, we cried and laughed with The Hills star. But today, the 29-year-old has come a long way from the days of running mascara and best friend beef.

In the October issue of Cosmopolitan, Conrad opens up about everything from her current fashion obsession to life on the hills to good old former best friend Heidi Montag.

Let’s start with Montag. She and Conrad were solid back in the day… and then Spencer Pratt came around and ruined everything. But it seems like the only one holding onto to that drama is Montag, who during an episode of “Marriage Boot Camp” explained that she “forgives” Conrad for trying to ruin her life. How does Lauren feel about that? “I’m not really involved in that anymore. I don’t think it has anything to do with me. You just have to focus on the good people in your life. Focusing on what you lose is only going to make you sad.”

And as for being sad, Conrad is not, even if she is basic. “I probably am pretty basic. But I’m also a pretty happy person, so that’s okay with me,” she said.

How could she not be happy? She recently married William Tell in 2014 and has had pretty big success as a lifestyle blogger and fashion guru. Again, all that The Hills drama is way behind her, and even if it was a lot to handle, she seems grateful about everything that happened. “Television was just sort of an accident… I never felt really strongly about it. But fashion is something I feel passionate about. If I hadn’t done TV, I still would have ended up in the [fashion] industry, but I definitely wouldn’t be in the position I am now.”
